What Regulates you?

We are all in the constant search of regulating ourselves. When we experience stress our limbic system kicks into gear and we can become overwhelmed. Our brains think we are in the middle of the emergency. Our breath gets shallow, our heart beats fast, we get tunnel vision. This makes it so that our prefrontal cortex can't filter and manage us the way we need it to. The prefrontal cortex is what manages time, relationships, hope, consequences, and helps us decide how to act, instead of just reacting.

So, we all try to regulate...sometimes by drinking, smoking, checking out on our phones, or shutting down in other ways.

How do I regulate?

I exercise, I read, I connect with people I love and I listen to these guys incessantly.
